Tails ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Tails mobile application and website (tails.social). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your name, username, email address, and profile photo through third-party authentication providers (Google or Twitter/X). We do not store your passwords.

User Content

We collect content you create on Tails, including posts, comments, messages, images, and videos you upload. This also includes interactions such as likes, tails (reposts), and follows.

Usage Data

We automatically collect information about how you use the app, including device type, operating system, and general usage patterns. We use Vercel Analytics for basic, privacy-friendly website analytics.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and maintain the Tails platform
• To display your profile, posts, and activity to other users
• To deliver direct messages and notifications
• To show relevant sports content, live scores, and game data
• To improve and optimize the app experience
• To enforce our terms and prevent abuse

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with:

• Service providers: Supabase (database and authentication), Vercel (hosting), and cloud storage providers that help us operate the platform
• Other users: Your profile, posts, and public activity are visible to other Tails users as part of the social platform
• Legal requirements: If required by law, regulation, or legal process

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using Supabase with row-level security policies. We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit (HTTPS/TLS). While we take reasonable measures to protect your information, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

5. Your Rights

You can:

• View and edit your profile information at any time
• Delete your posts and comments
• Leave or delete conversations
• Request deletion of your account by contacting us

6. Third-Party Services

Tails integrates with third-party services including ESPN (for live sports data), Google and Twitter/X (for authentication), and Tenor (for GIFs in messages). These services have their own privacy policies that govern their use of your data.

7. Children's Privacy

Tails is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes through the app or by updating the date at the top of this page.
